Archived items can be recovered, deleted items cannot.
Upon editing a trello card description, trello selects the whole text, which makes it pretty easy to accidentally delete the whole description and save it. Each time you press it, your most recent card action will be undone. Hover over it until it grays out and you see a pencil icon. There are a few different methods for deleting cards in trello, depending on how many cards you want to delete at once.
